The Marshall County Alabama Repeater System consist of 8 repeaters and 12 frequency agile remote base radios located throughout the county. The VHF and UHF repeaters are normally linked 24 hours a day on a simplex 220 link frequency using the 1.2 meter remote base radios on each repeater. Any one of these repeaters can be removed from the linked system without affecting the others to allow independent use. The frequency agile remote base system on each repeater will also allow it to be linked into other repeater systems with in or out of the county for extended coverage. Our repeaters are all GE Mastr II base stations with 110 watt continuos duty amplifiers. They have a mix of controllers in use, such as the Cat-1000, Link RLC-3, Arcom, NHRC-4 and a Cat-300. We choose the GE Mastr II radios since the mobile radio parts are a direct replacement for the base stations. They also seem to be very cheap and plentiful on EBAY. The entire system is backed up with batteries incase of a power failure.
